Has anyone given up finding a publisher?
100 comments, most of them from independent readers, all liked my work. The last editor who rejected me said they liked my work, but since I'm new and untested, and more with the economic downturn, they can not take a risk. They think I should approach a major publisher. After three years think of the Giong Road ebook. Advice welcome.
Where did you find your opinion? Were they friends, family, acquaintances, strangers, what? Were read in the genre of your book? Good comments from readers may be meaningless. It is not uncommon for them to go easy on you, because being a pleasure to be cost and nothing negative can have a "cost" of a kind, such as your feeling defensive or uncomfortable. The editors (or agents) review your work is what counts, not what you think thought, or said they were thinking. Looks like you have a real rejection who gave a reason. (Most did not care.) There is no reason to let you turn the rejection of legitimate research publication until all avenues have been exhausted. I sincerely believe that self-pubbing, on paper or ebook is a terrible idea of fiction. You probably need a literary agent to approach the major publishers. If you do not know how to go about that, after a new question.
