PDF or EPUB Format for e-Book?
I'm selling a personal finance e-book online on my own website.
I'd like the book to be as user-friendly, readable and accessible for my readers as possible.
When they buy the book, should I offer both PDF and EPUB (for Kindle and what such) for download? Is it possible so when they hit the link to download, the two (2) files download to their device? Or should just one be offered.
I'm new to this and would appreciate any discussion or advice you are willing to offer.
Thank you!
For starters, Kindle does not support EPUB format but uses Amazon's propriatory AZW format.
EPUB is supported by the Kobo eReader, Apple iBooks, Barnes and Noble Nook, Sony Reader, BeBook, Bookeen Cybook Gen3 (with firmware v. 2 and up), COOL-ER, Adobe Digital Editions, Lexcycle Stanza, BookGlutton, AZARDI, Aldiko and WordPlayer on Android and the Mozilla Firefox add-on EPUBReader.
PDF is supported on Mobipocket, iRex iLiad, iRex DR1000, Sony Reader, Bookeen Cybook, Foxit eSlick, Amazon Kindle (1, 2, 3, International & DX), Barnes & Noble Nook, the iPad, PocketBook Reader, Bebook Neo and the Kobo eReader.
I'd recommend to offer both EPUB and PDF formats for your book.
