Problems installing Adobe Reader on IE.?

My old version of Adobe Reader (7.0 I think) not working properly - And whenever I click on a link from the Internet to open a PDF file, the entire Internet Explorer would be close. But when I saved the link to my office which then open the saved file, they would open fine. This was upsetting me, I removed the Adobe Reader, and went to install the new version 8.1. But now I can not install it! It downloads 100% status download manager thing, but then an error message appears saying "Windows canoont access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the item. "I tried again, without a firewall on IE and Security on the lowest setting, same problem. I use a Dell laptop with IE Zone Alarm Security Suite and Symantec AntiVirus. Any suggestions please?! Junglejungle - I tried to download it from File Hippo, but it came with the same error message. Any more ideas???
