Can you read .txt files with an old Palm Pilot?

Hi, I'm thinking of getting an older model Palm Pilot (maybe the m100 or m500 series) and use it as a cheap e-book reader for .txt format ebooks. I looked into the "actual" ebook readers but they are too expensive...so I thought of getting an old model PDA instead. so I just want to know if the old model Palms can read ordinary .txt files.
