Can I download eBooks from my PC with any eBook reader?
I want to buy an eBook reader but I don't know if I can download ebooks from my PC with "ANY"eBook reader. Some people get free eBooks and stuff, but can I still get them with any eBook reader? Even if it's an eBook made from kindle, Kobo and Borders? I'm new to this so I'm just curious.... Can you help?
Kobo uses Borders--and non associated bookstores (no Kindle, Nook or Sony)
Nook uses Barnes & Noble and non associated bookstores (no Kindle, Sony or Kobo)
Kindle uses Amazon and some non associated bookstores (No Nook, Sony Kobo) and since it uses a proprietary format, you have to make sure it is an e-book designed for a Kindle or send it to Amazon for conversion
Sony uses Sony Reader Store and non associated bookstores and Borders (not easy!) (no Kindle or Nook)
Most of the associated bookstores have the same titles offered as freebies, and run the same prices for the non-free books. Non associated bookstores usually offer a choice of formats, so you can get books for almost all of the e-readers from them if you know which format to choose.
