How can i make my new Persian Cats friendly with me?
I brought two Persian cats Male - 1yr; Female - 1 1/2yr. They are not having food, not drinking water, not using litter, just finding nook and corners to hide in. it's been almost 16hrs and they didn't have anything. I'm so worried about them. I tried holding them and pampering but as soon as i stop patting or scratching under the chin they go back to their hiding places. What am i supposed to do? Please help me
Try not to worry too much about them just yet. It can take up to 2 weeks for some cats to settle in to new unfamiliar surrounds. Try to look at it from their point of view. They are somewhere unknown. They need to suss out whether they are going to be safe there etc. Persians are well known for being affectionate cats. They just need time to get their own scent around your house, so it feels like theirs as well. Put a little bit of food and water near where they are hiding. Plus also put a litter tray near by also. Then once they start to venture out, speak softly to them, and hold your hand out to them with your palm facing upwards. This shows the cat that you don't want to intimidate it, but that you are happy for them to come to you and check you out on their terms. Also leave an item of your clothing, say a dressing gown, t-shirt etc laying around, so that they can get used to your smell. This often gives them huge comfort, and tends to make them settle quicker. Good luck.
