Kindle vs Nook? Looking for some reviews from owners?
I want to buy an eReader for myself and one for my mom. We "swap" books often so I thought this would be a nice gift for us both. I've narrowed down my choice to Nook or Kindle. Hoped some of you had some insight.
Most important features would be:
easy lending between two devices
fairly easy downloads (mon is pretty tech savvy, but if it's confusing, she might not use it as much)
I'd like a bit of web access on mine, but it wouldn't be necessary for hers.
free books. Which one has good access to free books?
Ok. thanks for the help!
Lending books to others was one distinction between Nook and Kindle, but Nook still has an enormous advantage over Nook: you can borrow library ebooks for free. Kindle can't do that. You also can't expand the Kindle's storage capacity (you can with Nook) nor replace the battery yourself (you can with Nook).
The touchscreen is another great advantage of Nook. Swipe to turn pages, just like your favorite smartphone. Who needs a keyboard on a book reader? I never got that with Kindle. I don't want to type, I want to read book.
More free books with Nook since it supports Epub format, which is a more universally accepted ebook format. Amazon's format is proprietary (they are the only one who uses it).
Seriously, if my choice were Kindle or Nook, I'd take the Nook. If my choice were Kindle or nothing, I'd stick with regular books.
