The pillow is made of high density memory foam and is protected by a zippered velour cover which is machine washable. The pillow itself, however, should only be spot cleaned with a non-harsh detergent and air dried.
The Tempurpedic material is temperature sensitive. This means that the foam becomes "activated" upon coming into contact with a person's body heat. In other words, upon becoming warm the foam is much more pliable and easily contours to your body. For example, if you place the pillow behind your neck, the heat from your body will cause the pillow to conform to the shape of your neck, providing good comfort and support.
Tempurpedic material can have the tendency to absorb the heat from a person's body and not efficiently release it. In other words, it can act like a heat trap. Some people, as a result, may find the pillow to be warm or even too warm for their liking. But given the fairly small dimensions of the pillow, this should not be an issue of much concern.
Tempurpedic material is at least as durable as most other synthetic material used in pillows, such as polyfiber. In other words, it should last a couple of years or longer without losing its "memory." In addition, a plus of the pillow is that, unlike many other types, it won't need fluffing or develop hollow spots.
