reading ebooks on the B&N NOOK?
i'm interested in buying the NOOK ebook reader, but i have some questions i haven't been able to find answers to. i understand that the nook 3G+WiFi connects to any 3G or WiFi hotspot or AT&T hot spot, but can i download some ebooks and read them at home? basically do i have to be at a wifi hotspot to be reading the ebooks or just to download them? as you can tell i'm a bit confused haha. can somebody clear this up for me? anything helps. thank you 
You do not have to be connected to either the wifi or the 3g to read your nook. I own a nook-which I love, love, love, love, did I say how much I love it? Once the books are on your nook as long as you have power you can read. The 3g and wifi are for ease of purchase and loading to the nook so you won't have to be connected to pc to purchase and download your book to your nook. I basically keep my nook in airplane mode all the time. The small color touch screen and the wifi both have an affect on your battery. You can sideload your books(plug your nook to your computer via the usb and drag and drop books to your nook). And you don't necessarily have to read your nook only at home. I take mine EVERYWHERE!!!! You may not know but there are 2 versions of the nook. There is almost no difference between the to except that Nook wifi-$149 has wifi only. You must be connected to a wifi hotspot to download wirelessly. If you have wifi at home that's great. You can just connect there without having to plug in to download from the nook store. The original Nook $199 has both wifi and 3g. So if you can't connect to a wifi hotspot you can still connect to the 3g networks. Just say the wifi network is down at your house, but you have just got to have that new best seller. You can connect your nook wirelessly via the 3g and Bob's your uncle. Currently you can only utilize the web browsing feature via wifi, however I believe that in the future a firmware upgrade will be made available to allow you to connect via the 3g as well.
