New issue on wireless Kindle with the 3G network and the computers involved?

Is there any way I can turn on the 3G network Kindle in an access point so I can go on the Internet with computers or iPod Touch in the same house. (There will be no internet without wire, only dial up) so I wonder if I can somehow use the 3G network on the Kindle in "Give" the Internet (so to speak) for my other devices. Thank you! Techie-Wannabe

I do not know what or who provides a service for a "Kindle". If this is what I think is it's a phone for social networking and is available on Verizon Wireless. To answer your question, it depends on your phone if such a function or feature is built into the phone. On some of the higher end phones, wireless function specifically for what you are wanting to do are on the phone. I know for a Blackberry Storm, it has a function in the phone to do so. The best solution would be to contact your service provider and tell them what is your goal. Additional contributions ... If the function exists on your phone where you can plug a USB extension cable to your phone and the other end to a computer, if you are inexperienced network, it might be a bit tricky. While all your wireless devices / PCs / Laptops could access the Internet via your phone you need a wireless router if you have any wireless devices or non-wireless router if you do not have wireless devices. On the computer Your cell phone is connected, provided that you use a Windows OS, you have committed ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). Your PC with the phone connected to it via USB, then need to be connected to the wireless router or an Ethernet cable that would allow all devices that can make a connection with the router, access the Internet through the computer you enabled, then ICS your mobile phone. Sounds easy, ICS ON connect to a wireless network / wireless router not, and then all can connect to the wireless network / wireless router not. If you do this, please know that the computer that you connected with your mobile phone on ICS with ICS on the PC behaves like a small DHCP server. Your wireless router / no wire may also not act as a DHCP server. It is not impossible, but when it comes to setup and you can not make it work ... keep mind that you can deal with DHCP servers. The last thing I wanted to tell you is that I have not heard of a mobile service that allows customers to use their 3G connection with another device, and others of their phones. In other words, even if you wanted to hook one computer to your mobile phone and connect this computer to the Internet using your mobile phone 3G connection, I have not heard of a mobile operator that will allow it again, using the "3G". I Verizon and why I keep referencing Verizon, they have an "extra" data plan for $ 30.00 dollars per month exactly what you're wanting to do (providing your phone can use an Internet connection to other devices, then the phone itself). So you would pay your normal service for basic cellular service, you pay $ X amount of dollars for your data plan for your phone, and Verizon, you would pay $ 30.00 dollars extra so that you could have a data plan for other devices other than your cell phone. You do not say that everything you want to connect your network to access Internet via your mobile phone. To retrieve Web pages, small file sizes, things like that, a fine or both devices will most likely work. If you go to download larger files, running Xbox, PS3, and that sort of thing, using your phone as a connection Internet for these devices, you'll be disappointed. Your 3G will not be able to watch streaming video, online video games, etc. Anything you might want address, I assume you have access to some type of "apps" to download. Use your wireless phone, a search in your "World Access" and to find a program called "PDA.net. It installs on your phone, and provides a URL for download a small program to install on your computer. PDA.net lets you use your iPhone 3G connecting other peripherals. By using a computer and retrieving pages, saved me a night of the Internet has been all night by my ISP. However, again using Verizon, Verizon TOS indicates that the use of your "3G for others, your wireless handheld device (cell phone) is a violation of their TOS, your services through Verizon could be terminated immediately and all money you owe, including the future, you are responsible. If Verizon is your door, call and ask them. Otherwise, call and ask your wireless provider to limit their use of their 3G network. Either way, the data plan on your phone PDA.net ... I think you'll probably be disappointed about the end results of having used your mobile phone as an Internet access point for devices to your home. If you can not get DSL or cable, you can look into an Internet connection via satellite. It can be a little more pricy DSL or cable, but when it comes to using any Internet-ready device in your home, you'll be glad you did. Good luck. www.microscriber.com
