On December 1, 1971 Project Gutenberg was started by Michael Hart. The objective Senior Project Gutenberg is to encourage encourage the creation and distribution of eBooks. Project Gutenberg is one of the oldest digital libraries. Most Project Gutenberg books are public domain ... This means they are not protected against copying and can be freely distributed. The books are also available in open format that works on any computer. The books are mostly English and plain text, it also provides books in another format to HTML, PDF, EPUB, MOBI and Plucker (I'll explain later, these formats). Project Gutenberg is currently adding fifty new ebooks every week.
In 1985, Robert Stein began Voyager Company, which had ebooks in CD-ROM. In 1993, a person appointed ZKZapata created the software ebook first digital book reader called V.1. The same year, Digital Book Inc. offered 50 pounds in Digital Book format in a diskette. In 1995, Amazon began selling books (books on paper) on the internet. In 1998, two Rocket eBook ebook readers and where SoftBook launched. In 1999, many sites like eReader.com and eReads.com appeared. In 2000, "Riding the Bullet Stephen King has been proposed as an ebook. In 2005, Amazon (unfortunately) bought Mobipocket (I'll tell you the Due later). In 2006, Sony introduced its own electronic book reader name Sony Reader. In 2007, Kindle was launched in the U.S. by Amazon. In 2008, Adobe and Sony have signed an agreement to share technologies. Kindle 2 was launched in 2008 (again only in U.S.) and in 2009, Kindle DX (big brother) was launched. Recently Kindle 2 has been "allowed" to be sold outside the United States.
