Tips For Publishing On The Kindle
Is this a violation of copyright to use a picture I'm online for an e-book cover so I edited it?
I recently experimented with the creation of book covers since I plan to self-publish a couple novels I like e-books. Being that I'm not so skilled in Adobe Photoshop to create my own cover art entirely original, there are some photos I used for, and I saved on my computer so long ago that I have no idea exactly where I am half, but most are photo blogs. Is it copyright infringement to use one of them in the bag for my books, even if I edited a lot? I intend to sell my books on Kindle, so I think it might be a problem. Also, would pictures of places or nature take copyright laws as well as pictures of people? I really want an easy way to put a good face covers without having to pay someone to do for me, so if anyone has alternative suggestions, I'd be open to all.
If this is not your intellectual property, and you have not earned the right to use ... Then you'll have trouble. It does not matter what the topic is in the image, the copyright is automatically with the creator, but if a subject Human dominates the image and is recognizable, you'll also need a model release. Why not shoot an image and you change yourself or someone else to change for you. You must be careful with this or all the good work of your writing your novel could be offset by trial costs as much as you earn or more!
