Does the generation of Kindle have a back light?
I love to read in the dark! In fact it is probably they way I read most of the time.
No separate LED light will do
No, it doesn't, because the whole point of the Kindle (and other ebook readers) is that it's like reading a piece of paper, not like staring into a light bulb. The screen is made of millions of little spheres, black on one side and white on the other. Some technological jiggery-pokery that I won't pretend to understand makes each sphere rotate so that you see either its black side or its white side, forming letters and the spaces between them. The spheres are all solid, so even if the device had a back light, there would be nowhere for the light to shine through.
If you want something you can read in the dark, buy a netbook or an iPad.
