Is a Kindle (from amazon) worth getting?
Does anyone have a kindle? and comments? Ive been looking at them for months and i cant decide. I read alot. once i have a book i read the whole thing within 24 hours. I probably read 15-20 books a months. I'm looking at the regular kindle. Not the GLobal Delixe one. I would love to get one but the price is iffy. I know almost all the features on them and i know i would use it alot.But theres a few things i was wondering... Books are like 10 dollars on average or lower and you can get some books free right? does anyone know how many are available for free? Is there any offer thing. Like you get a point for each book you buy and after so many points you can get a book free? anything like that. Or is it a strict you buy the book for the price? Is there a new kindle coming out?
I have a Kindle 2 and I love it. If you are a reader then it is a great thing to have. I carry mine with me everywhere and for the few times I don't have it with my I have my iPhone and there is a Kindle app (free) so I always have my entire library with me at all times.
The books are generally $10 or less. I think I end up paying about $6 on average. There are tons of free books, but most of them are not ones you will care about. There are some good ones though.
There is no points program or anything like that. The price is the price.
Bottom line, if you like to read and have the money then get a Kindle. I love reading so much more now. As soon as I finish a book (or even before) I can get my next one. It is easier to handle then a book (don't have to keep the page open). I can even read mine in my pool. I just put it in a heavy duty zip lock bag and I am good to go.
Edit to add: To the person above who said you are locked into Amazon to buy your books, that is not true. You can load any book you want from anywhere you want as long as it is in the correct format. I have gone to other sites and found free books that I downloaded to my computer and then uploaded to my Kindle with no problems at all.
