Why isn't Amazon recommending books...?
I am constantly downloading ebooks from the Amazon store to my Kindle app on my iPhone. It used to always recommend books on my home page but now it isn't! Ive searched all around the site and it just says there are no recommendations for me although it still recommends other non-book products. Why gives?
I always buy books like you, and what happens, is that when I search for something else (especially cameras) recommendations would turn instantly from books to cameras! I think Amazon wants to promote specific products and, hence, gives those recommendations at the expense of more accurate recommendations. By analysing your browsing behaviour, it changes recommendations as soon as it feels you have other shopping preferences related to the products it wants to market.
Now, to fix this, I have opted for not looking for other items in Amazon except books. However, when I search for other stuff, I tend not to click on specific items. That keeps my recommendations accurate and always into books. You might try the same strategy. It, limits your shopping experience, I agree; but if you're really into books and you don't want other stuff to pop in, I don't see another way of doing it.
