Can I put PDF files on the Kindle 3 (latest version)?
Next week I'll be getting the Kindle "3" (the last version). I have books on my computer in Adobe Reader PDF format and have-nots. They are not purchased in the Kindle Store, of course. In addition, I'd much rather have them on my Kindle on my computer where I can read them when / where I am. Perhaps these books placed on my Kindle when I get it? Also, I keep reading that I need an application of some sort to do, etc. etc. Where can I find this application if one exists and is it necessary? I need some sort of USB cable to Kindle / transfer computer as I read? I'm sure this question has been Put naseum ad, but I keep reading different answers in my research. Thank you in advance!
Until there no DRM on the PDF, it will be fine. Keep in mind that PDF files do not have the capacity for redistribution, which means it can be tiny on the Kindle. You can alleviate this to some extent by using it in landscape orientation and zoom in. If the PDF is text, you can use an application as Calibre to convert. Mobi, which is readable by the Kindle and can be redistributed. To get the files for the Kindle, all you have to do is communicate via the USB port and drag and drop files into the Documents folder. It is quite easy. You can also use Calibre to do - select the file and choose Send to the Kindle device while connected.
