Is the Kindle or other wireless reading devices Good for Elderly person who loves to read but Eyes are weak?
My grandmother's eyes are going bad and she Loves to read. She reads the newspapers everyday just about all the Major newspapers and she Loves her Mysteries...but her eyes are going bad to the point she cant see small print or even the large print that many books offer...so I was wondering what can be an alternative for her to still be able to read and it will not cause her to lose interest in reading because shes losing her sight...I have been doing research about the Kindle and other wireless reading devices but Im not sure if its user friendly for someone who is Older and is not Computer Savvy ....anyways just wanted to know what u guys thought?
For many elders the Kindle is a great tool my sweetie and i have a Kindle One.
My sweetie---76 years-- was given one and the ability to increase font size is great. She had cataract surgery subsequently to receiving the Kindle but the font size we left large.
I too have one and font size and the low light is great for me.
I purchased a Kindle One to use the 2 gig removable Sandisk.
The technology is advancing very quickly but the content availability and price for Amazon is just outstanding.
Beware that Whisper Net is not available outside CON US, not sure about Canada, and certain remote areas in CON US not available. But you can download to your computer then load your Kindle on your desk.
I have over 250 books on my unit, many available free of charge from Amazon and other sites.
