Should i use a real city or make up one?
well i've been to loads of places in america but never the big cities or places known for corner kids (I'm writing a story about them, inspired by "the wire")
SHould i base it in a real city such as; new york, baltimore, chicago etc.
which requires a lot of research since i've never been there or make up a city that i will know every nook and cranny of but it unfortunately makes the thing slightly less real.
That's a hard one as its your story. I find that if I need to really describe a city, its best to do a fictional one. If its a real pivotal part of your story and you can not research it to your satisfaction, then some changes will have to be made. But your the only one who can decided that.
