The Sony Reader Digital Book has responded (with venom) to the recent announcement by the market of digital books top dog readers, Kindle, their decline Price eBook Reader. The Sony entry-level model, the exciting Pocket Edition Sony eReader PRS-300, arrives at a staggering $ 100 (U.S.) less than its equivalent Kindle.
Although you may not be able to compare like for like, because after all they are two completely different the new Sony eBook reader will certainly play an important role in the future of books readers digital market place.
Why? Eh well for two reasons in my mind. The first comes down to price, or to be more specific affordable. Even if the digital book readers have known a great couple of years, if the two great ambitions to achieve then they need to attract more buyers to market quickly and in a few serious numbers.
Not only at the price charged by Amazon Kindle and Sony, but all manufacturers as BeBook, iRex iLiad, Cybook and the many other customers willing to pay a high price for their electronic reading devices have been less and less, especially in the current economic climate.
That said, the enthusiasm to own one of these models remained very strong. So he sought to be affordable, which was held on the buyers market. Amazon, which first try to resolve it when they announced a price reduction on their bestseller revolutionary wireless reading device model Entry Kindle. But at around $ 300 mark they where not a purchase most people can not justify. Sony then took a quantum leap in measurement where price is concerned. The second reason is much simpler, one that strikes a chord with me and that you agree with 110%.
