I want to buy ebook reader. Not very costly and not with very poor performance either?
I want to buy an ebook reader but have very little knowledge so will you help me? I dont understand why they show tablets in the comparison with Ebook readers... I thought Tablets are mobile PCs.. so aren't they different? help
Ereaders come in two flavors based upon display technology: E Ink ereaders display pages via reflection of ambient light; LCD ereader display pages via back lighting. E Ink provides a reading experience very similar to that of a physical book; LCD provides a reading experience very similar to that of a computer monitor. E Ink is only black-and-white; LCD is color. E Ink is very slow and cannot do video; LCD is fast can can do video fine.
Therefore, if your priority is long-run reading, buy an E Ink ereader. If your priority is apps/games/video/web, buy an LCD ereader.
Kindle 3 and Nook Touch are among the best E Ink ereaders. Prices range from $114 to $189.
Kindle advantages: keyboard, 3G model available, 4G internal memory, Text-To-Speech, MP3 support.
Nook Touch advantages: touch screen, less page-turn flashing, EPUB support, SD memory expansion port, library borrowing now (vs later this year for Kindle).
Nook Color is one of the best LCD ereaders. Cruz R101 and PocketBook IQ 701 are two lower-cost LCD ereaders.
Tablets: LCD ereaders are like budget tablets. If larger, better resolution displays, still and video cameras, newer versions of Android, or 3G capabilities are important to you in your choice of LCD ereaders, you should consider getting a higher-end tablet instead. Note, though, that where LCD ereaders cost from $100-$250, higher-end tablets cost $400 and up. Tablets can also often run software ereader apps from multiple ereader manufacturers. Using the software apps, a single tablet device can read ebooks from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Sony Reader Store, etc.
