I am a nerd when it comes to Wi-Fi. Please help.?
I want to buy a kindle book reader and understand that I need a Hi-Fi Hot spot. My PC is wireless does that mean I have a Hot Spot and can download books from home?
First things first, you do not have to have wi-fi to use a Kindle. You can plug the USB cable into your computer and download books that way. If you get the wi-fi + 3G version, you don't need wi-fi at all. There is no data charges for accessing the 3G network.
If your PC is operating wirelessly, than your Kindle can access that same wireless router.
