Do I have wi-fi at home?

Sorry, I'm a bit of a technophobe!
I have a Net-gear thing hooked up to the main computer and that enables me to use internet on the laptop - Does this basically mean that I have a stable Wi-fi connection at home?
The reason I'm asking is I'm trying to convince myself to be sensible and buy the Kindle/wifi instead of the one with 3G also, so I need to know that I have a good wifi connection at home.
(and if anyone could let me know if the Kindle dictionary works offline that'd be great, but it isn't really important!)

Thanks to anyone who answers
10 points!!
Btw, not 'lucky me', I never spend any money!! - I'm not sure why but I saw the kindle, obsessed over it for ages and just though why the hell not just this once - I suppose when I get it I can feel guilty for a few weeks, but I really think (hope) this is gonna be a be a worthwhile investment!

Hi.
Is there a lead going from your computer to the modem? (The net-gear thing is a modem)
If so, you have a wired connection. A wireless one means you dont need the internet cable.

Look at your modem box, does it advertise anything like "wireless B / G" or even "wireless N"?
If it does, then you will simply need to configure your modem to broadcast a wireless signal.
The box should have the manual on how to do that.
