Tell me please!! Is this me being a bad parent or a guiding parent?
My 10 y/o and 7 y/o brought home their weekly readers (for those who don't know it has books, and gadgets in them for sale). Each child has earned money for good grades to spend. But I said no to buying electronic stuff out of these magazines. Why? Because the 7 y/o NEVER takes care of that kind of thing. The last time his kid PDA lasted like 2 minutes out of the package. The 10 y/o takes a little better care of his stuff but is always bugging me for batteries and won't save his own money to buy them. Lastly I hate how over priced the items are in those things. I told them both we could go to the store and buy those things but not from the magazine. Am I wrong? Isn't it up to parents to teach about a good value for the money?

I THINK YOUR BEING A GOOD PARENT....KIDS LIKE ALOT OF THINGS THAT THEY DONT EVEN NEED BECAUSE ONCE THEY GET IT THERE GONNA PLAY WITH IT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS THEN LEAVE IT ALONE AND WANT SOMETHING BETTER.
